I own a Black & White 2010 Mini Cooper S.

I would also note I live in an apartment. This will be different than most builds because It's most likely temporary. My plan is to gather lots of ideas from this forum and its users. I've already gained a lot from this forum just browsing the different builds on here. I have already started ordering products and furniture. This garage will be dedicated to MINIs Classic and new. I have tons of die-cast models, and posters I have collected over the years and plan to use my collection as some decor for the garage. I hope to document the process of my build. I hope to build, learn, and share from this thread. Thanks for stopping by and let the build Begin!

The Garage:
First things first.
10048142465_913d5bcc75_c.jpg

The garage is about 10 feet 7 inches by 18 feet 9 inches.
Pretty small garage, but for a MINI its pretty darn big. There is lots of extra space between the back of the car and the back of the garage. Plenty of space to play with.

My first plan of attack is to get some Race deck flooring in. I measured the garage and created a design online and sent it in for a quote.
Here is the design

My Race Deck Floor Specs:

Your Floor Spec's:
FLOOR SIZE: 10'7" x 18'9" Rectangle
TILE TOTAL: 209
161 - Black Free-Flow Tile(s)
48 - Red Free-Flow Tile(s)

Price is around 5 to $600.00

I decided on the Free flow tiles for a couple reasons
1. Free Flow is easy to clean - lets the dirt run through and under the tiles.

2. Free Flow also shows a unique checkered pattern within the 12" tiles.

It will most likley look like this.

Hahaha, now that is a nice garage :) Love the MINI and the fact that your working with a tight spot as well. I used to have a 2005 MINI that i just loved. My sister has a 2006 so i love taking that off her hands and doing a little cleaning. Best thing is how much space it DOESN'T take up in a garage. Good luck with your space, i'll be coming back for sure!

Thanks! Ya I love my MINI MINION. The car loves the curves. I take the MINI pretty much everywhere. I'm also the president of the Houston MINI Motoring Society which is so much fun to go driving with a line of MINIs behind and in front of you.
Here's a shot of My MINION and his 2 friends in Rockport TX at Sunset.

I'll be drawing some layout ideas soon.

I only had the base engine, then had a friend with a blue JCW package and another friend with a Red Cooper. We drove around like 'The Italian Job' as that had come out the year before.

Received my Race Deck Flooring Sample in the mail.

This is the Black Free Flow Tile sample.

From certain angles you can start to see the beginning of the checkered pattern.

I also received a stool for the work bench area I want to create.

Great stool. I know i was looking for something similar when i was developing my space but i couldn't find anything that fit the bill, so i just modded a plain and cheap wood stool. I see you just got your sample so i assume you haven't yet ordered? Make sure to mention that your a GJ member.

I saw your custom stools Dubber! They look great! I actually just caught up with your thread! :)
Yea, I'm holding off on ordering anything just yet. I ordered my Craftsmen Workbench, and cabinets and I want to get those placed to make sure my race deck design matches up good. I want to make sure the back of the garage has enough room for the bench and cabinets so it does not cover up the red stripe on the racedeck floor design.

Need to save a little more money for the race deck flooring.

Good idea, just measure and offset your stripe, that's what i did. Hard to tell in the pics but i have two "rows" of black before my red starts as thats where i have my husky pieces.

And that fridge would be amazing good luck i wanna see that in the garage for sure.

Some nice wall space above for maybe some craftsman cabinets to match, and a stainless steel sheet against the wall right above the workbench.

A few areas I need to tackle next:

I have a road bike i need to store, but it needs to be out of the way. Right now I have it just dangling from the metal bars from the garage frame.
Does anyone have any ideas or products that would be useful to hang this in a clean neat and safe manner? Something i could install that does not look tacky? And where should I put it? ON the ceiling, wall? Please reply with feedback.
10123720283_8ce1e0a352_z.jpg

I also have this area right above the MINI Cooper. What should I do with it? Maybe hang a light? Use the power from the ceiling for something?
10123647056_30bdb24c98_z.jpg

I also have this stuff to go through. Sort it and Start hanging things on the wall.

10123538634_7cbd79a393_z.jpg

My next purchases will most likely be the Cabinets above the workbench, the Stainless steel Sheets, and the stainless steel towel hangers and Shelves that will hold most of my Car Wash, waxes, and detailing products.

I suggest high on the side wall. Its a light bike so getting it up and down won't be a challenge. And especially since its a road bike with tight handles you can have it really close to the wall.

I picked up one of these guys used the other day to store our two bikes. Since we have mountain bikes with the obviously wider handles a wall mount within the garage was out of the question so i ended putting ours in the mudroom.

And to your question for above the garage, i would suggest a fluorescent tube light fixture and you could put in a electrical cord reel in the outlet as well. You can check my thread as i used that approach in my space.

Great Ideas! Thanks Dubber!
I think I might hang some pictures and posters tonight on the walls.

A personalized thank you from MINI. I never got one of those :( Whats the story there??

Its when I went to the Huge event in North Carolina / Tennessee boarder to MOTD (Minis on the Dragon)
One of the biggest Mini Events in the United States. Every beginning of May hundreds of minis got to north Carolina near the Tennessee boarder and drive the Dragon or "Tail of the Dragon" and other curvy roads like Cherohala Skyway, Hellbender / Moonshiner 28. Lots of Bikers ride the roads as well as minis. The main attraction is the Dragon. It is an 11 mile stretch of road that has 318 turns. You basically drive the hell out of your mini through the smoky mountains and enjoy Mini Vendors and Vendor Mods.

I went one year and there were about 800 Minis and thousands of people there. It was awesome! The dragon is one of the most dangerous roads in America, but fun as hell to drive!

Any ways Its my favorite stretch of road to drive. I hope to one day go back there!

Update: I recently moved into a house with a 2 car garage. I ordered my race deck flooring and it is all installed. My next order of business is to buy more craftsman cabinets and a retro fridge.

S.C. - I saw an inexpensive "pulley system" bike holder at Harbor Freight earlier this week. I have seen this system before as I had a similar need. You might also want to check with a Bike Shop. Harbor Freight also offers inexpensive bright portable lights which might come in handy while detailing. As for shelving/storage, you might want to check out the sturdy black plastic shelves (not the set for $19.99) at Home Depot. The Container Store is also a great place to find this kind of stuff. When I lived in Houston, I bought a de-humidifer (about $80 at HD) for the garage - a really good investment for Houston residents. Enjoy the garage and the Mini. Ever make it to Cars & Coffee?

K congrats on the upgraded space. I recently did the same thing in moving from a single to a double so i know how great it feels. Question, you mentioned ordering a retro fridge, i thought you had that red one in your last garage.
