That's why you make a couple fixtures and turn them out 20 or 30 sets at a time. A couple pairs for heat treating and grinding and a bunch of aluminum soft jaws for special projects.

Here are the dimensions for the Kurt 4" jaw. Most 6" and 4" Kurt Jaws will interchange with other mill vises.

For the time you can just purchase some off ebay for cheap.

You can make them cheaper than buying them. And if using aluminum, you can make one set in about a half an hour. If making multiple sets, you can make quite a few pair in a few hours time. Aluminum soft jaws come in very handy for holding odd shaped parts.
