I was wondering what a KY tool was.

:wtf:

Some might say up until 2008 Governor Ernie Fletcher was the biggest tool in KY. Being that I live about 3 football fields from the KY river itself (well, OH River, but KY really "owns it") I can make that joke. Hahahaha.

Petty and unnecessary namecalling aside, I hate to see what looks like a small town "mom and pop" store go into liquidation or to auction.

Whether getting out of the business, unable to sell the business or being forced out, I hate when tool lots and sales like this come up.

Bad for everyone but the big box stores. Boo. :(

If it is like the KY auction I went to this past Sat., bring LOTS of funds. Every thing went for a lot more than my budget would allow. Went for some pallet racks, they had lots of it, my high bid was there starting bid. Came home with nothing to show for 6 hours of standing around.

Did you get any idea of what your fellow bidders were going to do with the stock they bought?

Stockpile for local personal shops and businesses?
Resell on CL/ebay/fela market?
Resell commercially?
Resell overseas or worldwide?

If going for top dollar, I;d love to know what the final destination/end game was.

I'll have to start getting nosey in the spring by doing a little conversatin' at auctions.
LOL.

Tax write-offs for businesses would be my guess. Buy it at auction and save a bit of cash, then use the expenses associated with *participating* to bring the price past what you could buy it new for, and profit from the spread of the implied difference (regardless of its actual existence).

Sorry, my Dad was a tax whiz.
