G20: WELL DONE!!

that's a very good transformation on the old turtle pond to the raised bed. not sure if this is a good idea, but have you got any cement paint to let the kids do some artwork on the raw cement blocks?

you do have a GREEN thumb and not sure how you keep stuff alive when it's 120's during the summer, but i bet if you have the water things probably grow like crazy?

cheers

Well I've been away for AWHILE.. life's been busy.

Anyway, I finally got around to building my shed. I found a design online for a 10x12' (8' tall) shed. Free standing, as I wanted to be able to move it if I felt the need.

Attached are some pics of the shed build. I still need to finish the trim and build the door. I'm very happy with out it's turned out.

The area I started with (I dug it out and put crushed granite and some cinder blocks for the skids to sit on).

I went ahead and painted the floor with a textured deck paint (white so it will help to brighten up the shed when the door is open).

Huge thanks to a great friend of mine that flew down to help me build the shed. Without his help, it wouldn't be build yet. I learned a ton about carpentry during this project. Also big thanks to my son for helping me out after my friend flew back home.

I've got a 2x4 to mount on the rear of the shed, so that I can install some track and hang all of my lawn tools. The shed sits about 2-3' off of the 20' sound wall at the back side of my yard. This will keep the lawn tools out of the sun and rain, and won't take up any space inside the shed.

Any suggestions on an outside wall rack, or hangers for the lawn tools is much welcomed.

I'm attached some photo's of the build in case anyone would like to check it out.

After I finish with the door and trim, I'll move some shelving in continue with organizing my garage.

Hey Bob & Ric,

I now have 3 of the Milwaukee cordless tools. A buddy of mine dropped off a new spare battery and the impact drill. Granted he said the impact part of the drill no longer works, but the drill does. He also gave me the old case, though i usually store my tools in my tools box. So that means i only have like 12 more Milwaukee tools to get to catch up with your Bob. :bounce:

Kyle, by the end of 2020 I expect your collection will have grown.

We were discussing blow mold cases on Bret's (bj383ss) thread and we both find they take up too much precious storage space. Bret's solution is to make custom tool racks and mine has been PVC pipe. Some people like the cases for portability (take a bunch of cases to the work) but I prefer the tools in a tool box. My daughter's Christmas gift was a little tote that came with little cans, jars and boxes of weird food. It's a light weight little $12.50 McGuire-Nicolas tote (I would have preferred the tools to the food).

I'm sure I forgot stuff but that little tote had room for power tools:

  • 1/4" hex driver
  • 3/8" impact
  • 1/2" drill
  • Reciprocating saw
  • Multi-tool
It also fit some hand tools:

  • Hammer
  • SAE combo wrenches
  • Metric combo wrenches
  • Speed square
  • Tape measure
  • Screwdriver
  • Hex drive extensions
  • 3/8" deep sockets
  • Pencil
  • Marker
Topped off with a full assortment of:

  • Hex driver bits
  • Hex drill bits
Still lots of pockets for pliers, cutters and clamps.

With all that stuff in the tote, I decided to put one more tool in the tote -- the circular saw.

I think I'm going to outfit the tote with a set of Harbor Freight hand tools and leave the main compartment open for the power tools.

Bob,

Holy **** that's cool! (And inexpensive)! I often just grab one of my kids old back packs when I'm heading to the auto yard for parts.. Something like this would be much better! And of course around the house for projects. I'll be buying one of these tonight. Good stuff!
