I just built a shop/storage garage, 60 x 68 x 16.
On the 60' side I have three doors all 14' in height. They are 18', 12' and 18'. The second and third are rental units, one being 13x44, the second being 22x44.

The rest of the building is for me. Behind my 18' door, will be 24'x44' of storage area, boats, bikes, snowmobiles and camper. The back of the building is 24x60 will be my shop and tinkering area. These two areas make up a large L shape, just under 2500 square feet.

My plan was to mount Reznor shop heater in the corner of the L and angle it so that it blows at the corner of the L across from it. Heat should blow in to the shop area and into the storage area.

Questions:
1) How big of heater for this much square feet w/ 16' ceilings?
2) Any thoughts on how well this will work? ... I'm a weekend projects kind of guy, so most of the time the garage will be sitting cold, so I'm not looking for the ultimate answer, just one that fits my occasional use.

You could do that or get an L shaped tube heater. Aim most of the heat in the back portion. tall ceilings will help it be efficient and set thermostat to only kick on during weekends.

Put the heater where the shop area is, let the heat migrate to the storage area and don't worry about it

I'm located in Iowa, South of Hwy20, so Zone 5.

I thought I'd favor the shop side for sure. I'll try to setup my mount so I can experiment.

The tube heaters I think are more expensive than the Reznor fan type? Plus, I'm going to have RV's in there randomly, so not sure what the clearance requirements are on 13.5' RV versus my 16' ceiling??
