Hey guys,

I have no idea what they're called. They're t-shaped on the ground with a rod that's vertical. It's hinged at the bottom so a hydraulic piston moves the upright.

It slides under a car, and the upright gets chains attached to pull bodies/frames straight.

Anyhow, I'll be making one start to finish tomorrow, should be fun! Using a porta-power cylinder for the powerplant. This is just a temporary tool until their large frame machines comes in from out of state.

Anyone ever use/make one before?

*EDIT*

I remembered the name. They're called "Versa pullers".

I'm building one hopefully start to finish tomorrow. The main body and upright are going to be either 4x4.25" or 5x5x.375" depending on what's in stock at the supplier. I'm leaning more towards 4x4 since any lack of strength can be addressed with gussets and reinforcements.

Should be fun day tomorrow! I have 2 sheets of .25", half a sheet of .5" and lots of odds and ends. It will be built on-site, which is always lots of fun to me! Building something in the shop is easy, having to do it on site is a challenge I love to have!

I'll take bunch of pictures for you guys tomorrow!

Hmm, well there's no point in making a drive-on rack. They have one coming in, but not until the end of the month. Need something small for the next week or two!

Pull Dozer has made them and several other brands. You might want to do a Google search on Pull Dozer or Kansas Jack

Hmm,

Well I got started today. Everything is going well, I probably cut ~35 brackets out of a mixture of 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" plate. I cut all the materials to size as well.

All I have to do is clean the dross off (not much, the PM45 has amazing cut quality), grind a few edges, and start welding.

The main body is 4x4x3/8" square tubing, all the pivot pins/hinges are 1" crs. The legs are 1.5x3x.125" welded side by side to make a 3x3 (don't ask, the price was ridiculous!), all the tire mounts are 3/8"x3" flat stock with .25" gussets. Hinge assembly is 1/2" plate, so is the receiver box for the legs and main body.

Haven't decided how many adjustment angles I'm going to do on the main pivot. I made it 18" wide half-circle. The leg adjustment section is 1/4" plate, 9" radius. I just cut an 18" wide circle and quartered it

Should be 100% done tomorrow! I'll use my mag drill to make all the holes with a holesaw for the large cuts and twist drills for the rest.

Cool thing is for the price of 2 1" wide hinges, I bought 24' of 1" crs. $19.80 out the door. I already have a bunch of projects I can use it in!

Forgot to get pics today!

Was going to finish it today, but a friend of the owner came in and wanted some work done to his 92' Cummins. Retimed it to 17 degrees, pivoted the fuel pin to max fuel, adjusted the afc and pre-boost fueling. Didn't touch the max fueling screw yet, until we get in a 3k governor spring kit.

Next week: Gears, lockers, full front/rear axle rebuilds, and who knows what else on his '05. Oh well, taking tomorrow off. I'll post pictures Monday morning and try to get a few build pictures!
