When I lived near El Segundo there was a lot of aerospace companies around so I imagine there are hardware suppliers in the South Bay area.

You didn't mention if you were looking for new or surplus or???

Looking for new, I have a small business building furniture. I use both SAE and Metric regularly, and need quantities from 1- 1000 often.

In Northern California we had Valley Wide Fasteners, amazing, walk up to the counter, ask one of several very knowledgeable reps "I need a button head cap screw, 3/8-16, black oxide, in say 2 1/2" or 3" please" They would come back with both boxes, tell you the bulk discount rate and let you fiddle around with it for a minute. Most everything was best available stock, meaning USA, Canada, or Taiwan when possible, and pretty dang cheap. Ugh... miss that place.

So I am looking for something better than a well stocked ACE (expensive) but I dont qualify for the $100 minimum or bulk order that some places (Allfasteners) require.

Yeah El Segundo is home to lots of Aerospace industry, and LA is a major hub for everything so there has to be some decent suppliers out there?

Without a doubt.....Ace Hardware in Torrance (formerly known as Lovelady)

https://www.yelp.com/biz/ace-torrance-hardware-torrance

If it's a nut or bolt and they don't have it? Well, you are just too hard to please.

Hardwood....
Penn Forest Lumber in Carson......especially for the hard to find stuff
http://www.pennforestlumber.com/

A little closer....but not nearly as much selection...
Ganahl Lumber in Torrance (on Del Amo/Crenshaw)
https://ganahllumber.com/Locations/

Metal....
M&K in Gardena
https://www.mkmetal.net/

Electrical supply.....Home Depot or Lowe's.
Unless you need something special, then any of the electrical houses. Only on rare occasions is HD higher on wire.

Tools?
HD or Amazon

So....what kind of business do you have? I'm right down the road from ya

If Osh or HD doesn't have it, I place an order with McMaster Carr and have it that afternoon or the next morning.

WOW! Thanks guys.

This is exactly the response I was hoping for. LA is huge, I knew there had to be some active members here that could suggest quality suppliers.

I will be checking all these out, bummed I couldnt stop into the Ganahl when driving through Crenshaw earlier today.
---

There is a excellent Ace (El Segundo downtown ACE) literally in my back alley that is well stocked, but again, prices are steepish, and stock is limited by space. Its what comes up when I type "industrial hardware"...

---

I try hard not to buy from HD / Lowes / Osh etc.. the quality is ****, proven many times over when I get into a pinch.

---

Im sure I qualify for Grainger and Fastenal discount, Ill be checking in with them. But I really like to support the local industrial shops that are working hard to support me.
