Looks like you've done a frame off on the Impala. Wish I still had mine....wife, divorce, you know. But it's nice to still see a few out there mostly original and not totally changed.

There was one thing I disliked about those chassis. The way they had to run the exhaust. Seemed like a tubing nightmare. But that was 50 years ago before they had good equipment. Are you going to drive it when you're done?

Had a bored and stroked (Lamar Walden kit) in my '61 Impala, years ago.
The vid's cuul!. And congrats on the kickass shop and collection. I luv me a 409 but I'm also a screaming chicken / bird fan too. Sooooo what's the story on what looks to be a late 70's or early 80's second gen?.

That is a 76 Trans am 50th anniversary special edition.76 was the first year for the special edition black/gold Y82’s,and Y84’s.
This one is a 455 4speed.They made 2400 S/E’s,most were 400’s.Only 319 got the 455.
I like it because it is a S/E and it is the last year for single headlights.
It’s my next project once the Impala is done.
It needs some metal work,but nothing like my Impala.The best part is I have all the hard to come by S/E parts,gold headlight buckets,dash,steering wheel,and gold honeycomb rims.I also have the original 455 and 4 speed.I just need to figure out how to milk another 150 hp out of it and keep it looking original.

Good for you for driving it. What was the original color? Yeah, they don't seem to make great garage art sitting over in the corner collecting spider webs and dust.

The only trouble was, no one told me you couldn't use a BBC high volume oil pump on an '09. They fit and function perfectly, but the block won't drain the oil back to the pan fast enough, so you end up starving the engine of oil as it's all in the top.

Nope... Didn't figure it out until well after spending thousands of dollars on re-re-rebuilding the thing, then giving up and putting a small block in it.
