I was going to hire out the floor prep for my epoxy install and I managed to get in touch with a local company that told me they usually only do large jobs. The guy told me since my garage is only ~500 square feet he would just have his guys do it off the books and it would save me some money. One of his guys called me and told me I would be looking at $2500 for the install, that is grinding the floor and installing the epoxy, I am supplying the epoxy. Is it just me or does this seem extremely high especially since it is "off the books", I would hate to see how much it would cost me at full cost. I was thinking more along the lines of $1000 for prep and install?

Prep and labor is usually 3.00 psqft. depending on your market, the condition of the concrete and the system to be installed.

Access and repairs can also vary the price.

Prep would be a grinder, not acid etch.

I'd say that is high as from what I've heard and researched most installs which includes them supplying all the product goes for around $5-6 a square foot. I'm sure the guys who do this for a living will chime in and give you a better reply then what I can give.

2 car garage can vary depending on the substrate. Average price is about $1600. Material cost isn't bad, prep is easy if you have the equipment, its the know-how that costs the most. $2500 for that, off the books, deserves a slap in the face. Thats worth at least a free clean and reseal for the next 5 years lol.

All these numbers are worthless unless you post up where you live. . . labor monkeys on a crew get paid $20 - $25 per hour here. . . that greatly affects cost of install.

I got quoted $9/sq. ft for my garage.

It all depends on where you live. . .

Our Installation Division charges about $4.50 for a full install including materials. We charge extra to remove old coating if there is one. Pricing can go up from there depending on conditions.

We won't work for labor only and let the customer supply materials.
