I am looking at the Werner 97P Adjustable Stabilizer ladder standoff: http://www.wernerco.com/us/en/view/Products/Climbing-Equipment/Accessories/97/97P

1. Does anyone know if it will work on the Little Giant ladder (M26 Type 1A)?

The Company disclosure says it is not made for Multi Ladders. The parameters given for the rail size should fit my Little Giant.

2. I like the ability to increase the span to 65” and to increase the standoff to 29”. Does anyone have a wide-span standoff that they like more?

Thank you,
Mark

Mark,

Sorry I wasn't able to reply to your post before this, but I just received my 97P today. I thought it was ironic that your post showed up the day after I ordered the 97P. Coinkydink, huh?

I just finished putting the standoff together and I can tell you the design is pretty basic. You assemble the standoff/stabilizer and then attach it to a ladder with a couple of square-bend U-bolts. The U-bolts don't go through any part of the stabilizer. They just clamp around it and the upright/rung of the ladder.

So, I guess if for some reason the supplied U-bolts wouldn't fit the ladder you were using, you could use some different U-bolts. Or, wire/chain/tie the stabilizer to the ladder. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I was going to order my 97P from Lowes, Home Depot, etc., but I noticed the estimated delivery date was OCTOBER! YIKES! I called one of these big-box stores and was told the item was custom-made-to-order by Werner. Uh, OK?

Anyway, since I needed the 97P sooner than sometime next month, I ordered it from here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Werner-97P-...-Atandoff-Stabilizer-Accessory-/391256924179?

This vendor has them in stock and it only took 3 days to get to me. Yeah, it cost me for shipping, but, in this case, time was money. Money well spent, I might add.

Good luck. Hope this helps.

Hi Don,

Thank you for replying. While there was hope that someone had already tried this, it looks like I'll just buy and see what happens.

If the U-bolts are not properly sized for my use, I could see if a hardware store might have some that would work or a hole could be drilled through the standoff and the lip of each rail of the ladder for a bolt, washer and wing nut. The bolt and wing nut would probably be as quick for attachment-detachment and more solid.

Any reason you did not buy from Zoro with free shipping? http://www.ebay.com/itm/WERNER-97P-...e-Protector-/221577637572?hash=item33970e6ec4

Thank you again,
Mark

Mark,

I was considering Zoro, but somewhere along the pre-ordering process I got stuck on Industrial Products. Most likely because their eBay ad indicated they had the 97P in stock.

Not sure what Zoro indicated, but after talking with the big-box store, I was going to order from a vendor who had 'em on hand. Didn't want to order/pay and then be told the item would be back-ordered for a month. Perhaps at that point Industrial Products was the first one that popped up and I decided to just do it.

Would have been nice to save the shipping cost.
