I think they're great! You want them to look homemade, NOT made in China, bought at Wal Mart. Well done!

Not sure where you think you went wrong... They look fine to me. Better than the plastic garbage at every big box store

Maybe I need to take better pics... or perhaps some here need to have their eyes checked. They look to me like some drunken fumble-fingered couldn't-nail-two-pieces-of-wood put them together.

Or maybe I should have been drunk to begin with....

Okay I'll see if I can help you out with this...

The tall one looks like he's been hitting the bottle and the short one looks like he just saw his first sideboob.

Other than that they look fine and like the others have said you'd clean up at a craft show.

I don't see anything wrong with them. you made them so you will always see the flaws. anyone else seeing them outside from 30 ft. away? I don't think they would notice if they only had 3 legs!

they look cool though. you made any other log furniture or rustic stuff like charirs or tables out of branches? would love to see some. I bought all the drills and tennon makers to do some but never got around to it...need some inspiration!

I have to agree with everyone. I think they look fine. What were you expecting?

Given my experience with me doing artsy-fartsy craft-type projects?

****.

But you are not alone (as well as the others in this thread): Both the intermediate person and the end user love them. They want me to make a third.

Bud Lime or Pee before I start? :drink:

For a variation, try making one of the heads out of red cedar; then you could have a Rudolph. (If you put them on the front lawn, sprinkle some of the wood shavings from the saw on the ground under their tails.)

And make the bodies out of white birch. You will sell a million of them on e-bay. You have just found yourself a new side line for income. Well done.

They look good.

I've got one that I made years ago. Ran some lamp cord through it and put a light bulb in for the nose. I broke the (twig) antlers a few years ago and never got around to finding a new pair. I'll see if I can dig up some pictures.

I bet you could sell those for 50 bucks a piece without hesitation. With the modern world paying 20 times for "reclaimed" stuff that they would pay for new I am probably lowballing by a large margin.

Hey, I just made 2 of these today, as a Christmas Present for my MIL, and a mini one from scraps for the kid's Elf on the Shelf....
