Wow, that is probably the best build Lakeside I've ever seen! Every other Lakeside (I have one) has been an exposed screw homeowners design; heck that thing even has decent replaceable jaws! Well done scoring that!

Allow me to jar your memory Outlaw...this was my first vise, back when i first joined the board. Purchased upon your advice if I remember correctly. It essentially led to a part time job!!:rocker::bowdown:

rookie mistake on painting the anvil surface. Excitement got the better of me!

Wow, that was nearly a year and a half ago (And a couple of thousand posts too! Not to mention I've slept since then... :p )!!!

You're right, I did see your vise in a couple of three threads made on it! (Made me go look!) :dunno:

But I didn't tell you to go for it, you just asked if it was a USA vise, and I said probably so... ;)

So do you still have it? Or did all the other vises since spoil you for it and you sold it off? (Tell me the OP's vise is not it after some dink brain got it an abused the H out of it! :willy_nil

After that one I refurbed an identical Desmond Stephan and started buying other vises as i saw them. I threw those 2 on craigs and a guy came over with a bank envelope full of cash. he bought all my vises and then some. And he flipped 'em! I thought my prices were already high!! Lol. After that day i was off and running:)

You were right Hofferwood . . . . the Craftsman was even BETTER !!

I love the torpedo shape on front of handle, and the unique swivel lever.

Again, great job on the restoration of the Craftsman vise.
