laminate flooring as bench surface??

i am planning to build a new table for the garage. it will be used for reloading and firearms related work. I will be using 3/4 plywood as the base. i have some extra laminate flooring and i was thinking it might make a good surface to put over the plywood. its hard, replaceable and cheap.

So what do you think about my idea? anyone use laminate flooring as table top surface?

Had that on my workbench and lasted over 8 years;
Depending on manufacturer (some are tough, and others delaminate quite quickly) I say its the best idea for cheap, and tough workspace top.
What I liked the most, was, that it was flame proof too !
I changed it to a molded counter top last year: its now in need of replacement, because it looks like a pile of crud.
Guess what I'm putting back next ?

I have been thinking about doing the same thing, though I would probably go with a hard wood and use the stair pieces for the edge. I would double up the ply wood though, I do a lot of reloading on my bench and even with doubled up 3/4 ply wood I still get a little flex since you will need a decent sized lip depending on the press. Plus decide if you like to reload sitting or standing and build the bench the appropriate height. I prefer to stand so my bench is up to almost my elbow and being 6'5" the bench is real tall.

I've got it on my bench. It's tough as hell. I'd do it again.

It is tough, I saw a piece in the road for a week before it deteriorated. The only annoying thing about it might be the slots. I use a piece on the back of my bench to hold storage bins in the grooved lip - Just an idea.

Should work OK, I used 12" sq floor tiles on my electronics work bench, that works good too.

It would probably work and look pretty good at the same time. That said, I used a $7 piece of 1/8" hardboard as a removable work top on my bench.
