I h ave a chance to buy this old jack. it does not work but appears complete and in good shape. i would only be buying to resell as i do not have room for it. whats is worth and how easy are they to resell. shipping looks like a pain with it.

Looks like a S4, without knowing condition of hard parts and the jack in general I would t give more than $75 for it. There are definitely easier ways to make a buck...

I have the same jack. Took it apart to paint it and 4 years later still sitting in a pile. They sure are nice looking jacks. Wonder what the weight capacity is?

I paid $125 for mine. It was a little rough but not that rough. They are great jacks mine is a '49 and still kicking. Not an easy flip though. If it is not perfect parts are hard to come by. I'm having to manufacture my own bearings as the wheel bearings are not made anymore.

Whats the asking price? Probably cost less to buy the jack then to make the bearings I just made.

Wheel bearings are usually problematic on any old/large floor jack. They're down in the grit and if the grease fittings are used, the grease picks up abrasive grit. If there is no grease, grit and rust do their damage.

I've rebuilt them on both my Lincoln and Hein-Warner. Not a difficult chore, but too time-consuming to be profitable.

Those have rollers for bearings. just replace them with some drill bits, nails or other steel round stock the same width.

The front are needle bearings. The rear are angular contact ball bearings of an unusual size. I ended up using a thrust washer and a bronze bearing sleeve to fix my rear bearing.

At $150 you will likely not flip it for a profit. They are awesome jacks though. I highly recommend them.

That is one nice jack. It's an S4, I bought one for $40.00. The seal kit cost me another $120. Well worth the price when you consider a jack of that quality would be close to a grand.

Keep it. You'll be very impressed. You won't find one built with that kind of craftsmanship today. JMO. Find the room for it, you won't be sorry when you need it.

$150 and the seals are bad. PASS! Rebuild kit itself will not be cheap. I'd buy it for $40 tops. Whoever is asking $150 is out of their mind.

I imagine that by parting it out one could make back their $150 and make some folks happy.

I only sell one when trading up; I've found the local marked soft and shipping way too expensive.

I passed on two big, long floor jacks last week because they are expensive and time consuming to repair and then next to impossible to sell for a profit.

Looking for similar input, but I don't want to flip, I want a jack that is well made and serve me well for many years.

Can anyone tell the year made and comment on the value and quality of this unit?

Appears to be a Blackhawk SJ3, Definitely not one of my Favorite Jacks. In regards to Hard Parts.. Pretty much Non existent in New Form and Pricey if found. I wouldn't give $150 bucks for it, Unless I knew some history in regards to when it was rebuilt etc.. I suspect the Release seepage is just the tip of the ice berg.
