That is, hands down, the best potential auction I have seen in pictures. I am truly glad I don't live anywhere near there and likely won't on July22nd. Hopefully some on here go and can give an idea of the prices.

Strange. It's like the place closed up overnight, no clean up or anything. I bet there's some good stories from there.

OP, thank you for sharing.

Dang it, I was hoping this one would stay secret!!!!

Boeing has been "closing" for a couple years now, and they've very slowly sold some things via online auction already. I picked up a big Baldor grinder + pedestal for $200, and a foreman's desk for my hangar for $100. Missed on a few other things. The remaining lots look to be great, and I expect there will be a huge hoard of people and high prices because of auction fever + potential Boeing nostalgia for those of us that worked there at one point or another.

That Snap On workstation thing looks amazing, and they sold one earlier for $2000. Quite a steal IMO, and I had no place to put one unfortunately. The sold some 20' box trailer/storage units for <$1000 each too. Those were deals, but I expect the rest of it will be expensive...

Boeing was selling hordes of surplus Snap On and other tools on Ebay recently, but out of Washington state. They piled tons of tools together and it was not going cheap.

For those considering coming in for a potential deal, know in advance there very likely won't be any great deals. Just to give you an idea, Boeing (and later Spirit Aero) used to have a retail surplus outlet that was only open one day a week, starting at 10:00 AM. Without fail, there would be folks lined up waiting an hour+ in advance for the doors to open, just like a black Friday sale, and then RUN into the building to try to grab the newest merchandise. You can bet those same folks and all of their relatives will be at this auction. This town still has a lot of manufacturing, so there will be demand for the merchandise that can be put back to work, especially if they can buy 5-10 steel workbenches in a single lot for example. Not to mention there might be some nostalgia buyers that worked a career there wanting a souvenir piece of equipment.

Boeing used to have a full time surplus store in Renton, WA. It was absolutely amazing the stuff they had.

Inside the store was their famous Tool Crib. It would bring tears to your eyes to see this amazing stuff.

Unfortunately they closed the store but I'll never forget it. It was the highlight of any trip to Seattle. Drop the wife off at Southcenter Mall and then go tool shopping!!

I made many a trip to the Tool Crib in WA - I bought my first metric taps there. I did not know it had closed, sad. Plus, I'm a double Boeing legacy (both dad AND mom worked there - as did so many folks once upon a time)

I may run up with the flatbed and trailer just in case there are deals. I normally get so envious about all the deals you all find the Rust Belt. We have to take what we can find on the Great Plains.

On pic 8, I think see some Card Files used for tool/part storage. I am used to seeing these misused but I think this one may have been for tools from day 1.

I spoke to a representative at the auction house today, they said due to security concerns (this place backs up to an AFB) there will be no preview of the items. Gate opens at 9:30am sale starts at 10:00. I hope some GJ folks can get here to grab up some deals. I hate to see it all go to fellas who will just put it in their warehouse to be sold another day.

Happy 4th July!!!

I was watching those auctions too. Couldn't believe they were going that high.

Anyone else go to this? I left around 12:30 b/c prices were as high as the temperature and humidity. I got outbid on a few things and expected the prices to stay pretty high until later in the day.

There was a TON of great stuff though. 3 747-sized hangars full of treasure.

I also went. Boy was it warm in those hangers, I was thinking what it must have been like to actually work there. I felt like it was difficult to get only what you wanted because so many parts/pieces were left behind in the tool boxes that they went for big money, fair money I assume though. I wanted to get a mobile storage rack that ended up going high, probably because it had three rolls of carbon fiber material on it. I also admired all those Wilton vises, did anyone see what those bench/vise combos went for. Either way it was pretty cool to walk through the place.

All of this makes me sigh wistfully and miss the wonderful Boeing Surplus store when they had one in Kent, WA. Such neat stuff. Really wish they had a surplus store around.

There was no buyer's premium on this sale, which was a pleasant surprise. Sales tax was collected though unless you had an exemption.

I too wanted one of the composite material racks...they were very high quality and had leftover materials... the first two went for $900 each and the one with carbon fiber went for $700 or $750. I had hoped to get it for $300-400. Oh well.

One old bench with a swivel Wilton bullet went for $225 or $250 that I bid up to $200. I didn't really need it...just wanted a vise for my brother and I would've sold or scrapped the bench.

A coworker friend said prices actually got more expensive later in the day! He said the Bridgeport (2 hp variable speed) with two small cabinets of stuff went for $5500. Lista cabinets (or similar) went for $500-700 each, some loaded, some empty. Fair prices, not steals. There were a lot of industrial buyers there and of course they'll pay more than hobbyists.

I'm glad I stayed home then.

I was fussing around with my "new" 6 position Tailstock ($45 ebay find)

I did "stalk" a Monarch 1601 on GovLiq at the same address closing the same day online. But it got high fast and I don't really need that much lathe.

I guess the high prices are a sign of an improving economy. I could totally see the incentive of going to an auction like that and retrofitting my company workshop in one feil swoop.

I must say I thought I was living in bad area (sahara desert/So Cal) for sourcing good industrial equipment and cool tools but I'm now finding it's the opposite. I just have to go look on my local craigslist for a Lista, Kurt, Chas Parker, Cinc. Toolmaster or a Monarch and the prices are usually much lower or equal than most of the auctions I'm seeing. Go figure

I don't know if its a good sign or a bad one, but I do see a trend of more "local" sell offs around me (Oklahoma).

I am continually baffled by the business model of the used equipment dealers. They buy at prices so high I can scarcely take it in. Are they really keystoning these machines to some poor company down the line? Who is buying this stuff at those prices?

I have been hunting a forklift for a while for my shop. Looking on Dovebid, PuplicSurplus, etc. I see some deals but I'm holding out for pneumatic tires, propane, (a specific set of specs). Every now and then I wander into a dealer (like this week I am in Dallas) and I am floored to see machines that I passed on last month for $1700 being sold for $5000 with a fresh coat of (bad) paint smeared over the paint chips that were present before.
