Hey there, I have a very large vise made by charles parker co. but i cant find any info on this particular model. So i was wondering if any of you out there could help. Im curious in finding out its approximate age and value today and any other interesting info on its history. I saved this thing from a scrap yard years ago and im a long way from Connecticut where it was made. Calgary Alberta, to be exact. it says its a No. 5 -1x on it. it has 7" wide jaws, it opens to almost 12", is close to 3 feet long. has a hammering surface, and weighs more than i do lol and looks like it belongs in a shipyard, i have photos but not sure how to upload them here yet as i am new to this site. any and all help is appreciated, thank you

That thing sounds like a monster if it has 7" jaws. Its probably close to 160lbs and is a great find for being at the scrap yard.

If you look for the "Vises of Garage Journal" thread, the last few pages have an old Parker brochure that might have your particular model of vise listed for sale. Take a look and see what you find.

Greetings Canadian!
The Key to Happiness when it comes to tool help is photos. Go to the user control panel (at the top of the page is User CP)...click it....on the left side of the next page is Networking header.....click Pictures & Albums....from there you just make an album and call it Big Parker....next click it and you will see a link a the bottom that says Upload Pictures.....just click it and find the photos on your computer and hit Upload...when you have one saved in your album you will see two links under it....click Picture URL....copy the link...now come back to this thread and post a reply like I am doing....above the typing window you will see a "yellow postcard".....it will say Insert Image...click it....a box will appear with Enter URL of Image....paste your link you copied and hit Okay....then hit Submit or go to Preview Post to see if you got it right....Good Luck

Okay......due to Autopts dropping by and making fun of my "No Line Break" message, here is all you need to know. Go to this thread:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62716&page=13
Click on the catalog photo of Post #258 and it will show you your vise and all about it.
Thanks to EOC Jason for posting the catalog!!
Thanks to Autopts for making me feel foolish!!!
It's meds time....everytime Autopts posts it becomes meds time.

Try reloading the page fresh; if you dithered around you can lose the security token.

Bigger is always better...and that is a whacking big vise...

Bolt it to something heavy, I'd hate to stub my toe on that beast...
