I was at the local pawn shop today and seen a set of (to me anyways) large hex bit sockets. They were Carlyle 10-19. Looked like they've never been used. Just wondering what application would need a 19mm hex but socket?

Thanks. Guess that would be one I wouldn't know as no vehicle in the household has a drain plug in the filter..next year my blazer is getting one though.

Diesel truck and heavy equipment uses them. Not a ton, but enough that it's worth buying over borrowing. Been planning on picking up some of the Duralast sets since they're cheap and lifetime warranty.

These ones were only $30. I could probably get them for $25 if your interested pm me, maybe we could work out a payment, but I don't have PayPal so idk if it'd work.

Thanks for the offer, but I have most of the sizes, and only need a few of the SAE and Metric big sizes, which are pretty cheap to buy for how little I will use them.

Before I retired, I used the sockets on drain, and fill plugs on industrial equipment both S.A.E. and metric. The sets I used had S.A.E up to 1", and the metric up to 22mm.Ken.

Holy smokes. Lol. And thanks for the info.

On a side note napas website says $85 for these new. That's why I like this pawb shop, the price things reasonable.

At work I personally use up to 27mm bit sockets at work, on 36mm bolts and even 19mm hex keys. We are a machine/fitting shop and work mainly on all kinds of large smelting equipment and forestry machinery on occasion, plus any other jobs the come one, but it is mostly large work.

17mm works on Audi cv axle factory bolts. And 17mm low profile works on volkswagon and chevy transmission fill and drain plugs

Timing cover plugs on quads/dirtbikes is another example. 10,14,17 are common. Some use them for valve cover plugs also. It is pretty ridiculous to use a 1/2" drive 17mm hex to take a plug out that has max 10-15 lbs of torque
