Large (shed) door hinges, 46x80.

Anyone have any experience building a shed with large, heavy doors, and hinges for them? Each of my doors are 46 wide by 80 tall, and has T11 siding framed with 1x4's and a 7/16" OSD sheet on the inside. I added extra 1x4 blocking on the hinge side of the door to allow for T-style hinges So pretty thick and heavy. Home Depot sells some 50 pound hinges. Even 3 per door doesn't seem to be sufficient. Looked through McMaster, they don't show ratings for any of their hinges. Looked at the TuffShed stuff to benchmark, and those hinges don't look as robust as I'd expect given how thick their doors are, and how well built they generally are. On the other extreme, I could go for some barn door hinges rated at 900 pounds. Not much in the middle. Do see some on Amazon that look similar to the Home Depot stuff, but claim rated at 300 pounds per pair. Of course, a 100 pound door 48" wide will put a load a lot larger on the hinge than the same weight door at only 36" wide, so the ratings are hard to do more than compare with.

Anyone build their own before and have success with hinges you could share?

I used heavy steel piano hinges 6 feet long on each of the open wall/shelf doors behind the junkyard-found Chevelle. I found the hinges at a real welding supply store thirty years ago. They still stock the hinges in four and six foot lengths and in varying capacity. I think the hinges I used were formed from 1/4” steel with 1/2” axles.

With the doors closed, I had a 16’ wide whiteboard separating the dirty area from the storage/parking room.
When open, I could park two cars in there and still clear the spiral staircase and the bathroom.
I really miss that shop but OMG the neighborhood went downhill fast after I left.
