Large Snap-on Buffer vs. Random Orbital

I have a large, adjustable speed Snap-on buffer. I've used it a few times for buffing cars, but if I want to use this more often I will have to invest in some foam pads and a new backing disk, (I only have a wool buffer now.) Given the large size of this buffer, it's not the easiest to handle.

But would I be better off getting a random orbital buffer? Any recommendations???

The bigger buffers are generally used in production body shops. Detailers may use them time to time to quickly cut down large panels but will go to smaller ones for polish/glaze. Porter Cable makes a great smaller one but if just a diy sort of deal Harbor Freight has one like it for much less.

If you ever need brushes for the Snap On buffer, its actually a DeWalt.
