Bahco K9806M-75 - 75mm Deep Impact Socket 1-1/2" Drive - Made in USA

Not really considered the scale of 1-1/2 inch sockets before until pictured next to a milk bottle. Not sure if people outside of the UK will appreciate the size of the bottle. Nothing more to say, just found it interesting.

I thought it was a gallon milk jug at first but it must only be 1 or 2 litres?

Sorry guys, but when a job needs a socket that big, I don't pick up a ratchet. I pick up a phone.

When I was doing ship repair on CP propellors a socket that size was an every day component. When it gets to something that size you use a hydraulic torque wrench. I once did a blade change on an ice breaking tug boat at the shipyard in Vancouver, BC. Each blade weighed 5500 lbs and was held to the hub with six bolts that weighed 50 lbs each. They where torqued to 16200 ft lbs with a
2 1/2" drive socket. IIRC the bolt hex was about 125mm.

Glad I'm retired, just thinking about this wears me out.

Most of our milk still comes in pint quantities, even though legally it has to be in Metric on the label, above and larger than the imperial measure.
By pints I mean proper English ones, not the undersized American ones, That will be a 4 pint bottle, or about 5 pints American.

Anyone else confused ? So it's a 1/2 gallon.. how did America inherit an extra pint in a half gallon when 1/2 a gallon is 4 pints? And why am I reading your post with a ****** accent in my head?

Because he said "proper", I did it as well.

I did not know there were differences in Imperial and US liquid measures - pints, gallons, etc. - so I looked it up. Yes, the US measures are smaller than the Imperial ones.

That's pretty big but I was browsing HJE sometime back and came across Wright's 3 1/2" drive offerings. Those are truly monstrous.

I'm a casual railfan, and I'm always impressed with the tools required to maintain steam locomotives.

Yeah, at least where I work, I’m the guy that gets paid to answer that call.

Biggest nuts we have right now are for 132mm threads.

it's funny, Canada had proper british gallons (4.55 litres). Then we metrified, and started getting 'metric' gallons (4L). Then... i'm not sure, NAFTA I guess? and now we get US gallons (3.78L). Well it depends on the item, milk is still 4L, paint, solvent, etc is US gallon usually.

Gallon keeps getting smaller and the price goes up.

Soda/pop is in US sizes (12, 20 US oz) as is beer in cans, but beer in bottles are still UK ounces, not US. Hard liquor is in imperial quarts, but 40oz of beer are US quarts.

strange.

Sounds like America. Only place that would scale back a half gallon of ice cream to 1.75 quarts and jack up the price and..... they probably have it made in Ch........ agh, never mind. Don't even want to go there.
