My aunt has been slowly hooking me up my grandfathers tools (he passed in 1989) and this Christmas was no different. I got some really good stuff and this large hunk of steel. It's about six inches long and my grandfather was a farmer/rancher in west Texas.

Any ideas what this thing is other than a paperweight?

Now for the pictures

If he was a farmer he probably did bodywork and anything else that needed doing.

But. I don't think it's a body tool.

Well he was a farmer so.... crow slaying iron block that he would keep on a tractor? Looks like its got a hole in it to swing on a rope like a helicopter when the crows get a little ballsy.

Probably something he ran across that he used to hold stuff down that needed to be held down.

My grandfather was a farmer - I don't think he ever did body work.

I thought bodywork too. But not bodywork in the sense of taking the dent out of a fender, but as a backer to straighten something bent, something he couldn't take to his real anvil.
