Has anyone purchased or made leads for their meter with larger clamps? The standard ones are hard to get on, and stay on, a battery terminal.

I was thinking of doing something like this, but hate to waste a perfectly good leads to do it.

Any other suggestions?

It also helps to specifically look for industrial or automotive leads. The Fluke TLK289 has the giant alligator clips as well as oversized grabbers.c91e526781ed1af0390722a72f020840.jpg

Shielded banana plugs, silicone wire, some heat shrink, solder and a soldering iron can make pretty much any lead you need, at any length.

OK, so i never would have typed "Banana Plugs" into a google search.

Just not sure what would show up there.

Great Seller out of HK, top quality of Asian made parts...there are NOT a lot of good shielded/shrouded banana plugs available.

I am contemplating purchasing a Fluke Current Clamp (i400) to keep in my work van. I have honestly never used one before. I like the idea of the convenience of it, but I am not sure if they are worth it.

Let me stress.....get the silicone leads. So much better than the other kinds.

One of the best features I ever got for my meter.....the magnetic strap.....it's a strap with a magnet on the end...slap that ***** to the inside of the hood and your meter stays there....

Many years ago I got my dad a pencil type voltmeter. He loved it. Used it a lot when probing under a dash. Yes, he also had one of those screwdrivers with a light in it....but there were times where he needed to see voltage...not just 'is there voltage'.....

Silicone leads with banana jack ends. Swap any probe or gator you like as nessesary.

I buy the cheap silicone leads on amazon. My probes are from amazon and Aeswave. Some of the amazon back probes are a bit stiff going into the banana jack as they have thicker than normal sheathing, but that's easily fixed.
