What's the largest socket in your collection? Here's mine, an Armstrong 1" drive 2 3/16" 12pt socket I picked up. I haven't actually used it, but its been an interesting conversation piece!

For size reference, the last couple of pics is with a '50s vintage Snap On Hy-Lok 1/4" ratchet.

Whatever the 3/4 HF set came with when I bought it. Probably the SAE equivalent of 36mm or bigger.

Does your socket appear to be made of two pieces? The lower broaching ledge above the square drive section seems separate.

I like the 50s SO handle!

Nothing special... largest I have is a 1/2" drive 32mm Armstrong impact.
I need some larger ones for front end work though....34,35,36... maybe up to 42mm for some of the bigger trucks?

The biggest regular socket I've ever had was this:

It's a Snap-On 1" drive 2-1/2" socket.
The same lot contained several hub nut sockets in the 3-4" range, but they look more like a flat plate welded to a formed tube.

Not even sure where I got this picture from but I thought it was worth saving...My biggest socket is only 2" but had to borrow an inch drive 2-1/4 socket the other day.

It's a 1" drive Snap-On 2-15/16" chrome socket. I keep it on my dresser and put my wallet, keys, knife ect. in it.

The pic has a Snap-On F720 3/8" drive standard length ratchet.

I have a 3/4in drive 2 3/8in or a 42mm.

Yup same here... got the ol' Craftsman 2 3/8" socket from sears for 97 cents when it was on sale. I can say with virtually 100% certainty that it will never be used, but for 97 cents I didn't care.

I don't have a picture, but I use this for rear axle locknuts. I don't remember the size off the top of my head but I believe between 4-5".

2-1/4 Proto in 3/4 drive, and a 2" Armstrong in 1" drive. (I also have a 2" Craftsman in 3/4 drive in the road box for the front axle nuts on my rig)

Used a 4" in the shop for some drive axle lugnuts on Fri. Shop socket, of course.

Personally, largest I have is 2" in chrome, and 36mm in impact.

I have a snap on 2 15/16" black 1" drive. It was needed to tighten an eye bolt on a special lifting fixture.

Here's my BIG BOYS:

OK OK,

just to add some clarity to the photo I'll mention the smaller Gedore socket on the right is only a two in. 3/4 dr socket and the ratchet in the foreground is a 1/4" dr. The crescent wrench is from a key chain. ;)

BUT, these are still some pretty hefty sockets! The two large snap-on sockets I picked up used for just under $100 each. They measure 2 3/4" across the flats. I bought them specifically for some big coffee nuts that I have around here that need to kept really torqued. Here's another shot with something familiar in the shot that should put things into the proper perspective.
