It's about time this thread popped back up... I don't know why our 100+ degree weather is slowing down your garage activities? I mean, if you don't plan on using that vice.. you should let me borrow it, neighbor :)
Or at least babysit it.

You're a real humanitarian.

I just read thru this thread and you did one excellent job. Pat yourself on the back !

Thanks! I've suffered a couple of shoulder injuries doing that so I have to take it easy.

I second that last comment. Your transformation and your refurbishing skills are first rate!

Thanks, but all the refurbishment is all due to the folks here who posted the "how to".

The cabinet build is due to a good friend who drew it all up on sketch up and then was the lead carpenter while I fetched cool drinks and emptied the vacuum, etc. :D

I'm just lucky to have found this site which motivated me to do what I needed to do.

Thanks. I haven't done much other than work on cars in the garage lately.

The race deck flooring is proving harder to keep clean and nice looking than I had hoped.

So I have an update on the garage...I no longer own the house (or garage).

I took a promotion and moved to Alexandria, VA. I now park two vehicles in a (large for here) 23' x 19' x 9' townhouse garage. Took the Listas, Wilton vise, and the two red metal cabinets with me. I bought some NewAge Pro upper wall cabinets from Costco. NewAge Pro upper wall cabinets

Sold my wife's M3 as we couldn't justify three cars anymore (heck, I can't really justify two either given the mass transit availability).

The new garage is very crowded with my stuff, an old TV armoire that my wife used to store her boots in (movers couldn't get it around a couple of stair corners so I put it up on two HF moving dollies until we move again), plus a bunch of leftover lumber the builder superintendent left me (I think it was just going to get tossed in the dumpster and he couldn't see doing that so he put it in my garage).

Really ***** not having the wall cabinets, a 3-car garage, or the lift, but I needed the change. Definitely didn't do it for the money as the cost of living is silly here in the DC metro area. It's been an adventure so far (8 months in new job, 2 in new townhouse). I'm forever organizing things and then trying to remember where I put stuff.

Plus the projects getting the new place like we like it. I'm done hanging pictures (finally). I do have to hang another $%^&%%$ ceiling fan today. I hate working over my head.

Thanks again for all the words of encouragement and the knowledge I've gained from the fine folks here on GJ. :thumb:

Now I'm just looking for my retirement location in my spare time. I'd like to have a nice garage/workshop again at some point. My wife is enjoying the urban lifestyle a bit too much though, so we'll see how this all ends up...

Congrats on the new job, condolences on no longer having your own lift, and a kick *** garage. You did an awesome job on the last one. I look forward to seeing your retirement home garage/shop in the future.

Back from the dead! I have moved 2 times since I moved to DC. Pro tip, be careful when you sign a "mobility agreement".

So I have a new build place back in Vegas with a 2.5 car garage. It would have been a tandem 3 car but my wife somehow convinced me that a larger master closet was worth the 1/2 garage stall I had to give up. :headscrat

I am working in another city (Los Alamos, NM) but we couldn't pass on the lot/house we got in Vegas. It's our "retirement" house. Panoramic city views along with mountain views. Single story so my knees are happy. 10' ceilings including the garage. We're happy and I can live with 1/2 less of a garage stall since I don't *need* 3 cars.

I had the garage floor epoxy coated due to a time crunch between closing on the house and moving in. They ground the floor prior to applying the high solids epoxy. I decided against RaceDeck this time for a number of reasons. Was a tossup really but decided to just get it done and epoxy was the quickest to accomplish since I was having someone else do it.

I painted the walls (Wagner power roller for the win!) where the Lista cabinets were going with the help of a buddy. I added a Trinity sink from Costco and put in a backsplash (overhead light plastic lenses from Lowes!). Also added a water softener (that required me to build a platform as the 24" flexible lines weren't quite long enough...).

I have a number of the rolling wire rack shelves from Costco as well. They serve their purpose for now.

I have attached a pic of the 1/2 car section as I was moving in. It was quite messy... Added a few view pics as well as one of the sink and the workbench with project waiting for me to complete.

Plans: I'm debating doing another cabinet build out or just ponying up the $$$$ for the Lista sliding door cabinets. No more "junkyard dogs" unfortunately so retail is where it's at I guess. :eyecrazy::shocking:

Once I retire later this year, I'll bring my apartment TV back and hang it on back wall of the deep side of the garage. There's an outlet up near the upper right corner for an Air King quiet fan.

I have my portable AC unit powered via a dedicated 20A 110v circuit. I actually cut a hole in the wall of the garage for the exhaust so it is ok on efficiency (still ***** in hot air to replace what's exhausted though). I can take the garage temp from over 110 deg F to less than 90 deg F so I take that as a win. I have a bunch of solar panels on the roof so electricity isn't that big of a worry for me (other than the initial costs).

I have my old stereo and a bunch of speakers to wire in.

I added multiple LED lights so far with 3 more to add. As I tell folks, when I have to wear sunglasses in the garage I have just about enough light.

Yeah, it snows sometimes in Vegas and I’m above 3000’ so I’m more likely to get it.

admranger,

Welcome back! And the garage sounds like it will be awesome. I too kind of took a break from GF for awhile. I have a bunch of updates I need to post soon.

Admanager, welcome back and congratulations on [almost] making it to retirement! The third bay conversion is too bad but atta boy from the wife is extremely valuable. Also, with less than full vehicle space, the tool storage and workbench space is a fine compromise.
