My wobble extensions are SnapOn, and three of them are only a few years old. The detent balls are held firm by the springs. They work great with SnapOn sockets.

Yep, I know. But you say that you extensions slip into the second dentent easy when putting the socket on a fastener. That should not happen with a good ball spring or the ball is set too deep in the extension.

Still would like to here from some others on this issue.

Dirt and grime built up on a fastener often requires extra force to push the socket on. This required extra force can be enough to push the detent ball into the inner detent before the socket is seated on the fastener. This is something that will not be as apparent by simply trying sockets on extensions while standing by a toolbox. Unless some of this stuff has actually been experienced while using the tools, it may be hard to believe it can happen.

Sure anything is possible. I don't have any issues and none of my drive tools, extensions, or sockets interact in a propriety manner. Again, I actually measured the force on several examples. Next time I'm on the SO truck, I'll take a double detent socket and try it with some of his new wobble extensions. Still like to here from some others on this issue.

Just got a great deal on a 6" long 1/4" drive Snap on wobble extension yesterday. Tried it out on Armstrong and Craftsman double detent sockets and single detent sockets by Blue Point, Craftsman, Gearwrench, and Husky. The SO extension worked the same way as all of my other extensions with the same amount of force to move out of the detent. They also stayed pushed all the way and did not pop back out just like all of my other extensions.

I have laser eteched USA Craftsman. The etching seems like its holding up. Even my really worn metrics that are commonly used can be read quite easily.

Show us a pick so we will recognize them at the local flea market.
Snap On 9" Linesmans,
maybe 15 years old, formerly laser etched Snap on now wore off.

Ignore the Klein handles,
the Snap On handles weren't as thick as I like:

Just get a dermel tool and mark them each with both your initials and the socket size. No need to swap out craftsman americans for craftsman Chinese. No need to worry about the living conditions of pheasants in China or elsewhere.
