Laser Parking Guides? Tried it?

you are making your fellow 4th gen owners look bad. stop. not everyone is the driving guru you are. I myself don't drive my camaro often enough to 'know' where the front end is. I plan on installing a retractable tennis ball in my garage so the car is parked just inside the garage door. That way I have the largest area in front of the car to gimme room to get to the toolbox to get a screwdriver, etc. I found this simple retractable tennis ball instructable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Automatic-garage-parking-aid/

I just drive in and shut the engine off. I can't see messing with lasers and such to do something as simple as parking my truck.

What he said. There's about 4in clearance either side of the fenders between a shelf & a bench. Drive in, stop, turn off engine, exit truck. It's really not that ******** difficult.

I installed mine last Christmas and love them. I adjusted it so that the rear bumper of my pickup is close to the door, but not to close. Just gives me more room in front of the pickup for storage, tools and projects. They were easy to install and are not to noticeable on the ceiling.

I added them after laying down the RaceDeck tiles. The tiles made it easy for my wife to center her truck, the laser tells her when to stop. She (very important) and I are very happy with them.

don't they have a parking bumper tile? If I recall, i thought that was about the coolest aspect of racedeck for me

My dads garage has so much junk in it that he backs in with left lock on the after a couple of feet he pulls right lock then straightens up. I tried it six times before I drove out and let him do it....it's hilarious.

I've got two of these in my garage and they work great. Mine are setup so my cars are about an inch from the garage doors when the doors close. The biggest benefit is the room they give me by having the cars parked as far back as possible. I've had them for a few years and they always work. Uses sonar or radar (not sure which) to position the car.

Again, try backing a pickup in. Now, you can't see the drill press table behind it, the table saw behind it, or the cherry picker supports that you have to put your hitch between. You also can't tell how far you are from smashing the laundry cabinet.

Now try and do that with 2.5" of leeway on each end, and about 6" left to right. Let me know how it goes.

Yeah, I can pull in a car with a nice low hood and tell where I'm going, duh.

All you people that keep asking this stupid question, obviously haven't been in a tight situation like that.

This is how it used to be, it's worse now. The stuff at the back stick out further now, and the hitch has to go between the cherry picker supports instead of the tablesaw, plus the drill press is back there.

How do you get out once parked? Through the sun roof?

I use my Maxsa DOUBLE car parking laser in my one bay to center my F250 on my four post lift. Set the dots about 10 feet apart front to back, line dots up with ridge in the center of hood,drive on lift in center and dot tells where to stop. Works great.

I bought one and installed for my wife and so far it's a big help. It's better than whining about the car being too close to my stuff.

Can you pm me the brand and also let me know what turns them on and off. I am quite sure these are weak lasers however are there any long term effect on clear film? I park a fully filmed are where I would install it.

I've got to get one of these , my truck is so long I only have about 5" in front before hitting the tool box and 5-6" in back .

Me, I like the tennis ball on a rope.

Why? Well, it's simple:

• It doesn't take power, AC, DC or batteries
• It's easy to line up the car using the ball in all lighting conditions
• It's easy to stop when the ball hits the windshield
• The car is now parked, centering exactly where needed in the garage
• Besides, to my grandkids, the tennis ball is legend. The love it!

All in all, I think the tennis ball is a whole heck of a lot more fun than a laser. But then, that's just me.

I am going to be race decking the garage floor and dividing the center with color so my wife will have a reference. Prior to the that idea, I thought about painting the floor black, putting a double yellow line down the middle, and painting diagonal "Mustang parking only" stripes on "my side." Any violations would result in steep fines.
