While waiting for food, i was cruising You Tube and stumbled upon this strange ratchet. You push the drive tang through the ratchet head to change direction which isn't that uncommon but, there's a ring that you pull towards the ratchet handle that quickly rotates the square drive without swinging the handle. What will they think of next

Chit, and I thought I was satisfied with my collection. That would definitely be handy for a few of the places I work in since getting my 1/4" air rat in there is a PITA.

Neat idea but I would bet in practice is pretty worthless and breaks quickly. I would have to see several good reviews before I would consider buying.

Neat idea. I'd like to try one but it looks kinda awkward to operate... Even the guy in the video uses two hands most of the time. :dunno:

I've seen a couple with a handle you turn like a screwdriver. The heads on that style are pretty big. HF used to sell one.

Stanley has a similar tool but you turn the handle like a screwdriver instead of pumping:

I think both ideas are bad. I'd just use a stubby flex head and crank it out, or use a T-handle and spin it out, or a flex shaft and power drive it out, or etc.

One of the few still working tools I've thrown in the trash. It's dangerous to use as a regular ratchet. Since the handle doesn't lock it's really easy to bust your knuckles open on any obstruction nearby.
