Has anyone had any experience with laser welding? I had a shop demonstration yesterday with an IPG XR2000 welder,,,I can see labor savings big time,,,but initial costs are dramatic

I'll wait for a couple of years until Amazon has good one for $250

It's like anything else. "what are you going to use one for?"

Might well worth the $45 grand, if it could pay for itself by producing better quality or for less than whatever the currently welding technology being used is.

Unless one has money to burn, it has to be purchased on a business decision.

Looks pretty cool.

Definitely a shop purchase. I can see the old salts resisting or viewing with disdain. Likely the novice shop guys might use them to help keep work moving and the seasoned welders grabbing for less critical jobs. If the laser welders are what they say there is no doubt the owners will be equiping the shops. It's a business reality. It always comes down to money.

Laser is the new kid and has to prove itself which won't be difficult. It works or it doesn't.
