Has anyone actually laid hands on the last generation Craftsman Professional Tool Boxes? The ones that look Similar to the Snap On KRL Boxes

I saw them at Sears. They are ok, but the drawers are too shallow for my liking, even the top drawer I don't think 1/2" deepwells would stand up in. I looked at it a few times, not in the market, just a caster kicker and everytime I walked away unimpressed everytime If they where 1/2 the price, I think they would have taken off. I want to say Cornwell boxes are based off of these.

The giant yellow submarine display model at my Sears didn't motivate me to buy one. The drawer steel was a liitle thin. the grip latch system need to have the hook outside the drawer so something inside the drawer doesn't get wedged under it. I think Sears would have been better off keeping the older versions (which they bought two back this year). The prices were too close to a truck to buy.
The Waterloo plant in Mexico makes the current Cornwell boxes.

This is my Current Set up:

New_Cart_n_Cabinet022409.jpg

I am running out of room, I am leaning towards a KRA2418PCM, Would really like a 30" deep KRL but not going to lay out that much cash. I am keeping my eye out on craigslist for a deal though.

Thanks for the help guys.

My main requirement in a tool box is to have latches on each drawer, Like the griplatch or the lock and roll, I am an industrial maintenance mechanic and have to go to the equipment, pushing the box all over the plant. I will look again at www.strictlytoolboxes.com but last time i did they did not offer boxes with the drawer latches.

Thanks again for all of your input.

I noticed that the latest blue catalog doesn't have the professional boxes anymore but they have Montezuma and maybe Extreme? They were overpriced as has been noted here but I saw one at a local sears a few years back and they looked OK, just overpriced.

reviving an old thread here. The local tool dealer is getting a couple craftsman pro boxes in, they measure 75x30. Anyone got any feedback on them?
