Just wrote the last check for my new 24x28 freestanding stick/stucco shop.
The build started in late June.
It was budgeted and scheduled to cost 23,000 and final on August 19.
It cost 23,000 and finalized on August 19.
For the last two months I have had subcontractors working for the General Contractor working in my backyard most days.
Having read all the horror stories of contractors, subs, etc. in these forums I thought I would take time to mention there are Great contractors, great subs and great construction workers out there, and working for low prices, doing good work.
In the 50 plus days of the build (stucco alone adds three weeks to a building) the guys doing the job were friendly, cooperative, helpful and hard working.
I was called in advance for every visit (we have a dog, who must be controlled, for her safety) except one, that was caused by a typo on a phone number.
Offices staff to the guys with the shovels have all been fantastic.
The people showed up at the right times, worked hard, and left no messes.
Frankly, they went over what I asked for on more than half a dozen items.
Better garage door, better sidewalk, removed some nearby dead trees (at no extra charge) and in general have been great people to work with.
If anyone in the High Desert area (Southern California) wants a good contractor or a sub (framer, concrete, tractor work, stucco) PM me and I will give you contact information.
I wouldn’t hesitate to hire any of these guys for big work, or small, and the prices they have charged have been VERY competitive.
