What might this tool be???????
My dad was a heavy duty mechanic and a welder. It appears to be some sort of a scribe. And looks like it would be an attachment to some sort of measuring device. Can't figure out how it would be used since I don't know of any stand to hold it. The movable parts are brass and it moves on an octagon stainless rod. The 6" stainless rod has a brass end that fits into a small hole on the side of round brass unit you see at the top of the tool.
