Met a forum member out of town last weekend to sell him a tool he needed, and then went into a pawnshop I know that has 18x18x18 inch bins full of old tools. Obviously, you gotta do alot of digging - and I had two hours of pure joy scrounging up stuff!:) He had a prior appointment, and couldn't stick around, so, I'm posting what I got so he (as a local) can benefit from the place some other time.
This is what I walked away with. 1/4" Williams rat, Snappy ratcheting DOE wrench, USA-made aviation clamps, dremel accessories, some sockets, Imperial tubing cutter, and other consummables. $5 total.

Was a dirty mess but I was a happy man.

Since most of this stuff is old, I posted here in the vintage section. If it's in the wrong place, mods feel free to move it.

Good score! There is a local pawn shop that has tons of old tools. I try to make it down there at least once a month. Only downside is he prices Snap-on and Craftsman at new retail prices and won't come down. He says "you guys are just going to exchange them for brand new ones anyway." Well, no, we're not. Everything else (S-K, Thorsen, Plomb, Proto, etc.) is priced really cheap.

Thanks for the suckage!;)

Well, the shop is not in the best area in town. For those members who live in or around the Phoenix metro area it's Mo Money Pawn on Indian School Rd and 12th avenue.
They have 5 gallon plastic pails available. I get two, and empty a bin into the two of them. That empties it enough to get to the (typically ignored) stuff at the bottom. Then empty the next bin into the now empty one, working my way around the long table of bins till I get to the last one. Then, dump my two plastic pails worth into the end bin. Not easy or quick, but dirty and fun!

I think coming up to the counter all dirty makes them feel sympathy for me. I usually get a good deal.
