Found another cool vise last weekend...its a Prentiss #20.

I was turning in beer cans for cash at the local recycle place, and this lady behind my wife in line commented that she had a bunch scrap metal and an old vise. My wife asked her if she would let me look at it first before scrapping it. My wife then walks over to my truck and tells me this lady has something I might like in back of her truck...needless to say i scored a cool old Prentiss #20 on a swivel bsde for $10, and saving it from being smelted. The vise work perfectly too

Goat: great score that is for certain. most of the old swivel jaw vises have temp or missing pins and easy enough to make another one or buy one that another member can make you or most machinists if you want one.

it looks like there is something broken on the static swivel jaw so can you post up a few more pictures or tell us if the replacable jaw has a piece missing or the static jaw has some cast missing.

is your #20 a 5 inch wide jaw and can you also tell us it's weight which i'm guessing is about 60 pounds?

Hoover dam has nothing on you op, you **** big time!

For the life of me I will never understand what people are thinking when they scrap all that old gold, maybe something like one mans trash is another man's treasure.

Makes you stop and think just what went into all the scrapyards in this Country over the last 100 years? :dunno:
