Latches for 6"thick swing doors

I have a 24 x 36 garage with 10' wide swing doors. Each door half is approximately 5 feet wide and 6" thick. The thickness comes from the addition of 4" of foam insulation on the interior of the door ... (it's cold here in Maine!) I have been looking for a lockable latch mechanism that I can open from both the inside and the outside. I've tried gate hardware but haven't found anything suitable yet.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what to use or where to get it?

Thanks

I know that the old wooden refrigerators that were used in country stores and restaurants had thick doors and a mechanism that would open the door from the inside. Don't have any suggestion where to find such hardware, but I am certain that if you spend enough time GOOGLING you will find it. Those refrigerators used cork as the insulation.
