About 5 minutes after I leave CL, deals like this show up. I'm sure this one's long gone, about a day old. Figured I'd write him anyway. Grrr.

I have a couple Kennedy roll-around tool boxes, 3 drawer with bottom storage.
$25.00 each

Use a program or app to monitor those things for you. My eBay and C-list alerts have landed me a number of good deals.

I used an RSS feed for a while. Good some good deals on Warn winch's for me and a buddy. Finally had to turn it off. Kinda like the hot deals thread. Spending to much money.

What are the apps you're using? I would love to have something like that.

I use an app called "CraigsNotifica" on my android phone. You just enter a search term and it will notify you when something is listed that matches your search.

I got one called Craigslist Ultimate from iphone apps.....think I paid a buck or two for it. Check the app store and browse reviews before you buy anything. I can set it up with the Boolean (sp) search terms to include and exclude items from my search....for example, I've used (craftsman, atlas) drill press -bench -laser to find a cman or atlas dp that wasn't a benchtop and had no laser, to get me closer to the old ones I like.

Ebay allows similar searches with email alerts......I could use craftsman (band saw, drill press) -blade -manual -bench to show me cman band saws or drill presses and exclude manuals, blades, and benchtops to narrow my search. Similarly, you could add (benchtop) in that line to focus on cman benchtop bandsaws and dp's. Some of my searches are a good paragraph long, but they are like gold once you get them set up.

Thanks everyone for the RSS and app tips, and commiseration. Only comfort I can take is hoping the ad was a scam.

I bought one of those Kennedys for $125 with a matching top box a couple of months ago and thought that was a steal, and it was in worse cosmetic shape than the one above. When I saw that ad (a day late and a dollar short) you can imagine how far my jaw dropped.

I've had to pass up, miss, or lose out on a number of CL vintage toolboxes at good prices I really, really wanted over the past few months. It seems if it's not too far away for me to easily get to, the seller never answers my calls.

Tough deal to lose out on, though like you said they'd be a deal at 5X the price.

I get lucky once in a while. You really have to be on the computer alot to get the good deals around here or have enough money you can buy out a retired guys tool box and sell off what you don't have and keep the rest
