Just got the permit approved, holes dug and beams in the ground ( 2 days ago) for the extension off the front of my 48' x 24' shop. It will be a nice 24' x 24' carport to park under to keep from scraping my windshield. here's yesterdays progress putting up the trusses and sheeting.

got it done yesterday, before the snow flys too. ice dam over sheeting, then doing all the trim out is time consuming.

Question? Looks great BTW, how did you attach the truss up against the building? Did you take metal off and lag it? I plan for a lean-too next spring and i am thinking the best way to attach it to existing building, is to go ahead and pull the skin back off and reattach it with 30 foot header.. Looks real good man, nice job

After removing the trim, and marking the size of the truss on the tin, cut it back as close as possible, screwed and bolted the outer truss to the inner. I used the tin with U channel, top and bottom, to cover up to the addition, and screwed on the trim. Ill probably add one more electrical outlet out on the one wall, and a light switch with a couple LED rope lights wrapped around the inside of the carport for a little glow. there's already two carriage lights on either side of the garage door.

Once the snow flys, there's lots of electrical to run on the inside, just started on a pump house cover, and trimming out the wood shed to match the house. I had to stop early as it's down in the low teens by 3pm

At least the big part is done. What else are you doing besides trim? Lights and electric. In the area?

Great idea if you have the room for it.

Yeah, there plenty of room. This building is 72' x 24' now. I'm sitting on 5 acres, I just try not to clear too many trees to build anything. I had to remove 28 more to clear the site for a double motor coach cover. Not till spring now, but it will be 40' x 24' with another 2' of overhang on each side. put the motorhome on one side, and a couple boats on the other.
