I had that 725 lumen Coast lights on my twitter page for like 3 weeks when they were only $32. I think they're back to around $120 on Amazon.

Yesterday I got an email from sunex for their super bowel 25 off one day only sale. So I reached for my wallet and opened up the link thinking ok, what do I not need that I need to buy today.


It was only for tshirts and other advertising ****. Seriously?, how about tossing in a free hat the next time I buy a master kit.

How do they get away with charging over double for stuff? That capacitor jump pack is $192 on Amazon vs $425 from Matco. The Bionic Face Shield they're selling for $47 is under $25 on Amazon... and it's the crappy one without scratch coating and anti-fog. The 3 piece line clamp set (appears to be the Performance Tool set on Amazon for $15) is $35!

I just don't get the logic. Convenience? I could see paying a few percentage points more for the tool truck convenience and warranty but not DOUBLE. You'd have to be a ***** or spending the boss' money.

check out as in "those prices are ridiculous"? My 1000 amp jump pack only cost $60....you can buy them anywhere for around a hundred bucks.

No, as in, it's cool they are starting to come up everywhere.

I am quite sure we could find many items in there cheaper elsewhere. but two things:

1: Yes, convenience is a small part of it.
2: Goodwill and Credit. Few mechanics will have to pay the actual book prices. Because '...my tool truck guy take care of me.' AKA, a 'discount'. And of course Credit. Sure that jump pack is cheaper elsewhere. But is it delivered to my hands right now for $10 a week on a handshake? that is why the prices are where they are. I am not telling anyone anything they don't already know.

You are correct, tool truck prices are crazy but, truck pricing is not about the tool itself but, service. this has been beat to death but, it might need repeating. The truck comes to you. You can get tools and use them to make money while you pay them off. Service also includes warranty service, or the need for a special tool or a special size that you just can't find anywhere else.
A good tool truck dealer is worth his or her weight in gold.
Now if you're not someone who wrenches for a living, then a tool truck may not be in your best interest to use. There are more sources for tools today than probably at any other point in time. The tool quality gap between truck brands and non truck brands has narrowed considerably over the last 10 years.
A tool truck may not be right for you but, it doesn't make it wrong those people that need them.

They all sell plenty of imports. One could also argue how are any tool truck brands still a thing. Just cause Snap-on makes most of their hard line doesn't make a $500 10pc wrench set make sense.

Very true but at least when you make your own products there is no price comparison versus finding the exact same thing for half the price from the OEM.

Crazy pricing yes but obviously lots of techs find value in them vs other options

Well then in fairness Matco does have contract exclusives. Ratchets, swivel impacts, certain wrenches etc.. just to name a few.
