Latest project

Total cost for the steel, about 60 dollars. Hingle and handles 12 dollars. Can't find the receipt for the black paint but I think it was like 15 dollars for a quart and a pint of hardener. The red paint I got for free. Tape, 7 dollars for so for the 1/4 inch fine line blue stuff, and the rest 1 dollar at dollar general.

Nice work. Yes, you could have bought something, but it moight not have been the size you wanted. And it probably wouldn't have been as well built, or as heavy a guage. And of course, it wouldn't have been painted as nicely.

I was just at Harbor Freight today, and that cabinet is extremely flimsy, the thickness of the walls is about a 1/32" (if that) and when you open the doors, they wobble and flex really badly from side to side. I wouldn't put much in one other than a few cans of spray paint. I think the locks and cores on the doors have more metal in them than the entire cabinet. Definately not "Heavy Duty" like they advertise. One good thing about them is they are on sale right now for $39.95 if you need one.

So don't beat yourself up too bad, yours will probably last A LOT longer.

I recently bought and assembled that Harbor Freight hanging cabinet. Not too bad for the price, but definitely NOT heavy duty. I certainly wouldn't pay the 59.95 for it - I got the sale price.
