latest tool picked up for shop

I went up to Boeing surplus today looking around for a bargain. They are only open on wednesdays. It was a good day I picked up a starrett 24 inch dial height gauge with case in perfect condition for $70.00. It had been sent from the shop floor to the tool lab saying the dial was sticky and it ran up and down rough. According to the repair ticket the Lab sent it to surplus without looking at it. Which is common when someone works at boeing wanting a cheap tool they send it in and then keep an eye out for it in the surplus to purchase. Must have beat the guy to this one. I took it out of the case it zeros is smooth and like new

Thats a steal of a deal, those go for about $500 new !
Is that one of those places you never know what they might have ?

yep everything from aluminum drops to drill bits cutters desks computers drill presses grinders airtools no telling what else they even had a big grob bandsaw with blade welder had 1800 on it

The yard in Wichita is or was a pretty good place for quality used tools. I didnt know Boeing had a surplus store. I'll have to check it out next time I'm down there.

the yard is getting away from the used tools and moving into new tools and material. It used to be the getting place for aircraft drops but not much like that anymore. They have remodeled the fron store and the back material building is all fixed up nice. damned shame to I liked going up there. Boeing surplus on wednesdays is the bomb for bargains
