Latest Tool Purchases. How Did I Do?

So, I purchased a few items lately from 2 different pawn shops and I'm wondering how I did.

The first is a Snap On ATEC2FR100A 3/8 digital torque wrench. I paid $120 for this one and it seems to be in pretty good shape. I had the local Snap On guy check the calibration (he did for free) and it seems to be spot on.

The next is a set of screwdrivers. I paid $46 for these and I'm second guessing myself and wondering if I paid too much. It was what originally appeared to be a 6 piece set of Snap On Instinct soft handle screw drivers. However, two of them are missing. The #2 phillips and I'm not sure which flat head. However, it does include an additional extra long 3/8" flat head for a total of 5 pieces. I'd like to find a matching #2 phillips, but I'm not having much luck on eBay.

What do you guys think? Honestly, how did I do?

You got a good deal on the torque wrench, but how often do you use one? A normal click style can be had for $50 brand new from Sears with no batteries that die from sitting. If you use them often, I'd say good deal. As for the screwdrivers, that's almost $10 apiece, but they are worth it. Just more than I'd be willing to pay.

Now a real bargain hunter, or pollack, like myself, gets Snap On screwdrivers for $1 each. Like these I picked up a few months ago from a local pawn shop.

I think you did okay, the torque wrench was well worth it and the screwdrivers even by the time you buy the missing one you'll be well under if you went and bought them. I got a set of instinct a couple weeks ago that I won off the truck raffle and I added the miniature matching set. I like them just hardly use a screwdriver.

I bought the 8 piece SO screw driver set, (same exact green ones except 2 stubby ones), new,for $49.00 off the truck on sale about 6-8 months ago. Not trying to be a jerk, just saying.

I thought so too. That's why I jumped on it. I really like them. Very comfortable to use.

I paid $200.00 for a used tech wrench exactly like that one, so yeah you did real good on that.
Just remember to keep the batteries out of it when not in use.

It's a great tool. Definitely makes you look and feel pro.

I just paid $155 for the same set off the truck last Tuesday!

The torque wrench I actually plan to use very often, so I'm excited about it. I'm not a big fan of Craftsman torque wrenches, and I use them often enough that I need something a little nicer. I have an inch lb wrench and a 1/2" Snap On click style wrench now and I use them a couple of times a week on average. I wanted a 3/8" click on torque wrench, but when I came across this one I decided to pick it up.

As for the screwdrivers, I probably shouldn't have bought them. It was more of an impulse buy. I have a Craftsman set (which ****) and a Gearwrench set (decent). I just broke a Gearwrench one and the warranty has been a huge hassle. I mailed it off to them last week, but still don't have a new screwdriver back. When I saw these, I was fed up with the others and decided I wanted a quality set of screwdrivers. It seems like I probably paid a bit too much for them. When I bought them I really only had eBay to base my prices off of and they seemed to go for $80-90 for similar sets.

I don't have a regular Snap On guy, so I miss out on these deals. I don't work at a shop, so I never see him unless I call him. Then I have to go track him down. When I buy stuff like this I normally either buy it used or get a friend that's a mechanic to get it from the Snap On guy. (That's how I got this wrench checked.) Since used stuff is about 1/2 of the new price, and I don't use it everyday, that's usually the way I go. This unfortunately means I don't have a Snap On "guy" to tell me about his deals and specials.
