Lathe help. Brand?

Hi everyone, I am new to the threads. I am not too much on posting and usually too stubborn to ask for help. But here I am asking for help.
I got this lathe a year ago in a trade. I was told it was an Atlas but???
Anyway, I would like to get the missing parts to get the feed working.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank y'all.

99.9% sure it is not an Atlas, yours has vee ways, Atlas were flat ways, other than some real late models, and that isn't one of them. Might poke around here http://www.lathes.co.uk/ Lots of good info, but will probably be time consuming.

look on the ways by the tail stock. there may be some info stamped there.

Could be a Clausing before Atlas bought them out. Also kind of looks like it could be a Logan. All of the Atlas lathes had flat ways except for the re-badged Clausings early in the merger.

Thank you all for the information and help. I am at a loss. I have looked this thing over and over and cannot find any stamps. I will double check the tail stock to make sure I did not miss anything.

The markings on the Atlas were on the way under the tailstock on the back side. Could be that you may have to tip it over to see about any ID on the bottom.

What's missing? Show the part where you need parts. And hold your camera steady.

It's not any Atlas that I've ever seen. And I'm pretty sure it's not a Logan, either.

Some old South Bend's had stepped ways and oval feet. Just a suggestion, IDK. SB's tended to feature that style of tailstock too.

I'd wager a WAG that its a SB clone. The tailstock and overall look resemble SB but slightly "off," and the ways are gnawing at me having two flats for the tailstock with two Vs for the carriage, I know Ive seen that before but where is the question....

It's definitely not a South Bend.

It may be a Sheldon.

It's missing an awful lot of parts.

Rather than wasting time and energy and money on the parts to make it whole again (once you figure out what brand it really is), you'd be better off parting it out and looking for a better lathe without missing parts.

You are correct WWIIjeep. It is missing a lot of parts. It still works great. I guess I hate to part things out sometimes. I may just sell it like it is to someone local.

I am not sure what the box is on the side Alan. I have put much though into until now. It does seem kind of pointless though.

He's correct. Nothing is connected to the lead screw.

the WL is a 46 and I have a 1942 UL for 29 years that seems to have been a Navy machine. It has a Goulding Rocket sidecar

That is pretty cool. I love the old flatheads. My first was a 41wl then a 47 wl and now the 41wld. I only have the wld now and parts to start a 32rl. But that is was down the line if ever. Post some pics sometime of your bikes.
