I'm not sure of the year on this lathe, but its definitely old, I'm figuring 40's or earlier, but I'm sure someone here can ID. It has this tag on the end:

It is 110v with an old GE motor on it.
I picked it up over the weekend sight unseen, but I'm probably going to let it go as all the exposed belts don't go well with my 2 year old son. :( Also, either the chuck or the lather is a little wobbly as anything in the chuck has a slight wobble to it. As you can see, the chuck was not installed when I got it so we put it on and turned it on and it runs nicely, just has the little wobble. Also comes with a box with about 6 or 8 other gears for the end to change speeds I presume.

I'm just looking to find out a little more about it so I can pass it on to the next owner.

Looks like a pretty serious project, it has some similarities to some of the Atlas lathes of that time period. I know they were re branded to sears at the very least, but i'm not sure about any other brands. The flat ways and tailstock look pretty close too my 1958 Atlas 3911. The box of gears can be swapped to alter the distance that the carriage will move per revolution of the spindle, for auto feed or thread cutting, spindle speed is set by moving the belts between pulley sheaves.

Agree on Atlas, looking at the apron, guessing a real early one. George Reynolds was (still is?) a machinery dealer in Providence RI. As to the wobble, probably the chuck is worn, that one is real old. Might take the chuck off the back plate, see if it runs true, if it doesn't, true up the back plate and remount the chuck. Might be better, but won't be perfect, 3 jaws never are, although a good/newer one can be very good. You have the wrong pulley on the motor, should be a 2 sheave, assuming the large spoked pulley is a 2 sheave, like most Atlas'. Guards can be made to cover the belts and pulleys, but a 2 yr old shouldn't have the least bit of access to it, even off.

Thanks for the quick replies, good to know that it is probably an Atlas. That chuck looks too big as Zkling noted, I'll see if I can find a decent 4jaw and see if that remedies the wobble.
