I think this is a little Atlas 618

Or is this some kind of a fancier 109 made by the Ann Arbor Company?

That is the 618. It is also called The Six Inch Craftsman. In other words, the really desirable one. There should be a tag on the tailstock end listing the actual model number, the first three digits of which should be 101.

That one should clean up nicely.

Just set one of those up for my Dad. For a very small lathe, it is really quite nice. Work within its capabilities and rigidity and it will serve you well.

Pay particular attention to lubrication points and be sure to lube it all every time you use it, especially if you are using the back gear for low speed work.

Easy to work on, disassemble and reassemble. Bolt it to a nice rigid bench and level it so there is no twist in the bed.

l'm not sure yet, but you snooze you loose, l think it's gone.

One thing to check closely is the leadscrew. If it has been used for power feed taking heavy cuts it may be badly worn. That was the problem with one I had for years, In those days Clausing sold replacement parts. I replaced the screw and half nuts and used it for many years with no issue. My son now has it and still no problems. I told him "if you can't feed it easily by hand don't use the power feed".

Well, I don't even see it marked as SOLD! He must have sold it and took the ad down.
IDK if you all remember, but I've mentioned all my stuff is in storage ATM, including a Mongomery wards version of a Logan 200 10" lathe.
He did say the 618 had "wear". Where I don't know.
Nice thing about the Logan (lf l ever get it here) is l did a wiper motor PWM and ~ 12 V power supply, feeding my lead screw,
Only need to manually change gears if l need to thread. So l have a nice variable speed. reversable lead screw, with plenty of torque.

I have one of those and notice yours has something behind the lathe bed that could be a taper or duplicator unit. I have not seen another with one of those. I bought mine for $50 while it was sitting under a pile of other stuff. This was 45 to 50 years ago and when I got it out of the pile I was offered $250 for it by another customer at the shop I found it in.
