Hello Fellas,

I'm looking for info or anything helpful to identify the three pieces pictured. They were in a Kennedy machinists' box I purchased.
Thanks

I'm sure a real machinist will follow up, but 1 looks like a center drill holder for the tail stock, and 3 looks like it goes into 2 and is a tap follower.

I would give odds that those three tools were used in support of a drill press most of their lives. Yes they could be used in the mill or lathe.

cvairwerks has the correct answer.

1: Looks like a MT2 tool holder by Greenfield with a countersink cutter for fastener holes held in it and to be used in a lathe tail stock. The label on it is troubling, could mean MT1 but not sure about the 1/64?

2: Looks to be a #MT3 adapter to hold a MT2 tapered tool, Could be a MT2 to MT1; looks trashed.

3: It's used to be put in a drill press chuck (it's a straight shaft) to keep a tap wrench centered and apply even pressure while turning it/threading. It can also be used on a lathe with a drill chuck in a tail stock when threading manually, turning by hand.

1 & 2 wont be too useful nor valuable (pretty much trash) but you could use #3, would be good for your drill press when hand tapping

What you do with #3

The tap follower would work equally well in lathe, mill or dp...assuming it doesn't have a ton of slop.

Thanks for all the help guys. I have follow up question w/ regard to dead center/ tap follower.
As you can see in my pictures, the screw is turned in as far as it will go, which leaves about 3/16" play between the head of screw and outer sleeve. Is this proper? Is the screw not meant for some adjustment?

I'd say the screw is there to hold it together. It can be pushed up inside the chuck slightly, in use, compressing the spring and exerting pressure on the tap.
