lathe pulley wheel broke

hi
on the high speed part of the pulley wheel a piece has snapped off making the lathe run very roughly at this speed.
can you make your own or would i need to buy a new one and if so where is the best place for spares. the lathe is a 3 speed model.

the make of lathe is The Alpine Machine, its a pretty obscure old lathe, never found any info about i at all on the net.
no i dont have the broke off piece, it shot across the workshop somewhere.

Yes making a pulley is possible, even out of wood. Pictures of said lathe would help a lot. We have no idea if this a flat belt or V-belt drive. Wood lathe or metal lathe.

I'll bet someone beat on that pulley at some point and I'll bet it will run as is as long as the belt is biased towards the middle step.

Easy to make or just buy and replace.

Looks like a wood lathe which limits you to buy and replace if you don't have access to a metal lathe. That pulley seems to have more cracks and bits ready to go. If you don't use that 'speed' much you can also just lop it off with a angle grinder to get the balance back.

Being realistic, if you glue it back together, the guys over in Backyardmetalcasting.com, one of those can pour you another rough casting from it and then you can finish machining it if you'll trust it.

If it was me I would look at two,options
That is a fairly,generic type of step,pully.
Measure it up and see if there is a generic replacement that will work.

Option 2 is that you remove the pully and cut the broken sheath off and then you can just run without or,you could fit the right size single pully on the end of the shaft if you still need that speed
