Hi folks, i rewired my Standard Modern 10 inch Utilathe Lathe ,it needed to be re wired it as it was partly dismantled and stored for the last 3 years, it uses a farm duty Leeson motor for signle phase,as i reconnected the T2-T3-T4-T5 and T8 with the P1-P2-P3 two of the three wires coming from the reset switch broke off from being so frail when i was reconnecting the wires so i tried to re-solder them and not bring too much heat to the reset power switch, could a poor solder connection make for very poor continuity issues, the wire from the lathe itself has what looks like 10-3 gauge .The power feed from service is 12-2 wire and is on its own 20 amp breaker ,they are run to a junction box and connected together with red marrets ,connecting the two grounds to the box and the two blacks and whites together. Please does anyone have any ideas as to what might make a lathe sound loud when running ,it seems as though the motor is the problem to me ,my brother and i unloaded it last night was a brute to unload without and lifts. The lathe feed is i believe 10-3 has a red wire that was cut and not stripped so it wasnt connected to anything if that makes a difference in what it sounded like **** when i turn it on.The motor sounded louder than it should normally, hope to hear back from someone, thanks.

It turns out,the lathe was last wired for 110 and i had was running 240 ,my cousin was by this morning and he moved the white neutral to the neutral bar because the lathe was on a double pull 20 amp breaker running at 240 ,all is good now.I always ask my questions on this forum because of the knowledge and quick response, thanks.
