Lau Blower Wheels

I have been having some issues with Lau direct drive blower wheels. The hub crimp loosens which in turn creates much noise then sometimes breaks loose from the wheel.

Does anybody else have this issue or seen it ? Also has anybody tried a tack weld to keep it tight ?

There was a problem several years ago with Lau wheels. Have you looked for any service bulletins from the furnace OEM? Tack welding would probably throw the wheel balance off causing premature blower bearing failure.
