... I'll just be sittin here freezing
I found this in a Cali self storage facility trash dumpster. I frequently look through the trash cans for scrap metal. I can't believe what people throw out. I've found a $200 landscaping wagon with expanded metal bottom, saws (sharp), mechanic manuals, surf boards, an armoire, metal shop stools, a bumper pool table worth about $700 with 3 wicker reclining/spinning chairs and much more! All in New condition!
Then one day see a drum and I'm thinking here's a good chunk of metal and pulled out an oil filter incinerator! I was in shock. I know these are not legal in 90% of California. I only knew what it was because I saw one in use at a truck stop in the Mid-west. In fact, I was freezing and stood buy it for a minute because it did not smell or smoke. I remember smelling like a lube rack for a couple days lol. Kidding!
This thing looks unused. The paint is not singed or flaked anywhere. While looking it over I saw that it had a stove pipe mount in the rear. It has a 230vac igniter on it and a plunger type rack inside. I can gut it and cut a door in the front. I have an extra 30 gal lid for it for a stove top The fireplace store has wood racks with holes to blow air through and lookie here, a couple of squirrel cage fans on top! Cut a round hole in the door and put an adjustable vent in it. Put an insulated chimney through the roof and I'll have an "automotive" novelty pot-belly stove in my shop
I can tell my idiot Green neighbors that I helped the planet by recycling a smoke belching oil incinerator into an efficient shop heating device (please don't tell them I'm burning green leaves from my yard trimmings and paper trash okay?)(<-- that's a joke okay?)
