This is very nice but you have to know I live in NorCal in the heart of Silicon Valley. We don't have that sort of space in the suburbs. $1-million gets you a 1960's fixer-upper with about 1350 sqft of house, no basement and about 6000 sqft of land.

Put this in your side yard and lock it up, you can always build it smaller if you have to.

I have the same EXACT mower! Pretty damn nice rig actually.

I would install an Eye Bolt into the pad then run a Cable or a Chain around the Blade securing it with a Padlock. This way it is hidden and it would take some figuring out to even get to. Raise the Wheels all of the way for securing it with the Chain and Padlock then drop them to the lowest setting after you have locked it up. Most thieves won't even try to figure it out once they tug on it a few times. This also leaves a clean install and area with no sign of it being secured. If you display the way it is locked down then the thief knows what they need to bring to get it. Plain and simple.

Basements in California (earthquake country) are like hen's teeth.

I'm looking at Simpson Strong Ties now. This one or something like it has potential to rig with a bolt and lock. Clamping down one wheel might be enough deterrent.

I wouldn't worry about it much, anything you do in terms of locking it or chaining it will deter thieves as does covering it up. Out of site, out of mind. Combined with the camera and gate you'll have 3 (or 4 if it's covered up) theft deterents. That's enough security to deter all but the most daring thieves and that type will get your mower one way or another.

What about drilling two holes in the concrete and embedding a leaf spring u-bolt in concrete?

That reminds me of a bicycle I used to have. A nice Bianchi with a chromed fork and Campagnolo components. I plasti-dipped the frame and form into a flat and runny black (brushed on, not even sprayed). Mixed grinder dust with epoxy and painted on this fake rust concoction all over the place to make the -aluminum- wheels and stainless spokes look rusty. It was one of those bikes that looked like the lock was worth more than the bike.

Unfortunately, there is very little you can do to that Honda to make it look like something else. That plastic deck is very recognizable.

You guys are missing the obvious solution - stop mowing the lawn. Once the grass is a foot tall everyone will think the mower is broken and it's perfectly safe. Nobody steals a broken mower - except maybe a scrapper.
