Anybody got any good ideas for storage of layout tools? Think framing squares, tri-squares, speed squares, straight edges/rulers, etc? I need a portable solution to keep in my truck that keeps this stuff from getting beat up.

I would make a rack to hold them in a vertical position if possible. At home I keep them in tool box drawers and the large square hangs on a nail in the wall. Another reason why I like thin drawers. The framing square is the most PITA as if it gets bent it's usefulness is a bit lost.

Steel Kennedy machinists chest? I use a Gertsner oak chest at home for the same stuff.

O.. fancy

Built a flat case, like a large briefcase, that has dedicated holders in it for each tool. You'll be able to tell at a glance if one is missing when you pack up at the end of the day.
